03.(a) School Leadership Roles and Responsibilities

Principal Roles and Responsibilities

Principals in LCSD#2 take responsibility for their school’s success. They work in connection with teachers, parents, and community stakeholders to ensure that each student’s safety, success and well being are the school’s top priorities.

Our principals serve as instructional leaders who work with teachers and school leadership teams to plan, design, and implement programs and strategies pertaining to curriculum and activities designed to meet the unique needs of students and the educational community. They work closely with the school staff in identifying educational and instructional needs, and in developing long- and short-range plans to improve the instructional process.

Our principals work through effective communication channels to assist the educational community in understanding the school and district goals and objectives, and the strategies utilized for achieving them.

School Leadership Teams

Educating students in LCSD#2 is a team approach. Teacher leaders are involved in leading Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and other organized teams of educators. A PLC, is a group of educators that meets regularly, shares expertise, and works collaboratively to improve teaching skills and the academic performance of students.

03.(b) Teacher Evaluation Model

LCSD#2 takes effective teaching very seriously. Part of a school administrator’s duty is to plan, develop, organize, conduct, and maintain performance evaluation information systems designed to ensure that school goals and objectives are achieved, and that all staff adhere to district, state, and national educational standards and goals. LCSD#2 uses the Marzano framework to guide and evaluate effective teaching strategies by focusing on the three main umbrella’s of feedback, content, and context.
