CULTURE & CLIMATE

14. SCHOOL CULTURE, CLIMATE, AND SAFETY

School Culture and Climate

A positive school climate and culture are important not only to the education of all of our students but also to having a positive workplace environment.

We acknowledge that RELATIONSHIPS are fundamental in all aspects of our lives.  Cultivating relationships through respectful, considerate, sincere and honest interactions sets the climate of our system and is the foundation to all we do.  This foundation creates an environment where all students and staff want to learn, work, and play in.  Additionally, it helps us model for our students interactions that promote healthy relationships for success in their future.  We strive to show respect, tolerance and humility for others while also being thoughtful, caring and empathetic in our interactions.  As we demonstrate these values we believe that our relationships will be positive and trustful.

The responsibility of this lies with each stakeholder who is apart of Lincoln County School District #2.  Surveys are conducted regularly for students, staff, and parents.  We use this data to help us determine our strengths and our areas of improvement related to our school climate, culture, safety and other educational needs.

We have an ongoing parent survey on our district website since the beginning of school to address what is going well for our students and parents and what we can improve on.

School Safety

The goal of LCSD2 is to provide a safe school environment for students, staff and visitors.  One of our main focuses has been with the i luv u guys foundation.  With this group their main components are Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, Shelter, Hold, and Reunify.  Over the past couple of years many of our staff members have received training in the Standard Response Protocol and the Standard Reunification Method. This group would include administration, teachers, secretaries, district office staff, law enforcement, and emergency responders.

Along with the i luv u guys foundation, we also have received training with the ALICE process, annual bus safety training with all our students, annual earthquake drills, fire drills, lockdown drills that involve law enforcement’s input and suggestions.  Safety is our main priority for students, staff, and visitors at LCSD2.
